  • 2 1/2 c. fine bread crumbs
  • 1 c. suet, chopped finely
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. currants
  • 1/2 c. citron, orange and lemon peel
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. each: cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. light brown sugar

    Combine ingredients; fill tin cans (16 ounce) 2/3 full, lids on while steaming.

    Steam 3 hours in steamer or large roasting pan half full of water.
