Ingredients

  • 2 lbs round steaks, fat trimmed off & meat cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
  • 4 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 7 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 -2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 green peppers, chopped
  • 1 (15 ounce) can refried beans

Directions

    Brown steak, onion, and garlic in the oil in 6 quart Dutch oven.

    Add tomatoes, cumin, chili powder, cayenne, peppers and salt.

    Bring to a boil.

    Lower heat to a simmer and cook slowly for 2 to 3 hours or until steak is tender.

    Add refried beans and cook, stirring until well blended.
