- 2 Tbsp. yeast
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. lukewarm water
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 6 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 7 c. flour
- 3 beaten eggs
- 6 Tbsp. melted butter
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- cinnamon
- 1 c. raisins
- nuts (optional)
Directions

1Mix yeast, 1 tablespoon sugar and warm water; set aside. Scald milk; add shortening, 1/2 cup sugar and salt.

2Cool to lukewarm.

3Add 2 cups flour to make a batter.

4Add yeast mixture and beaten eggs; beat well.

5Add 5 more cups flour or enough to make a soft dough.

6Knead and place in greased bowl.

7Cover and rise about 2 hours.

8Roll about 1/4-inch and spread with melted butter, sugar and cinnamon; add nuts or raisins if desired.

9Bake at 375° for 12 minutes.
