- 1/4 c. cocoa
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. milk
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 3 to 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Directions

1Mix the cocoa, sugar and salt.

2Add the milk, which has been scalded, and the shortening.

3Let stand until lukewarm and then add the yeast, which has been softened in the warm water.

4Add enough flour to make a dough which can be handled; knead until smooth and elastic.

5Let rise until doubled in bulk.

6Bake in a moderate oven.

7Half a cup of chopped nuts may be added to the dough, if desired.

8Bake at 350° for 1 hour.

9Makes 1 loaf.
