  • 2 c. sifted self-rising flour
  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 3 unbeaten eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Sift into mixing bowl flour and sugar.

    Add shortening and half of milk.

    Blend two minutes.

    Add remaining milk, eggs and vanilla and beat two minutes.

    Pour into two 8-inch prepared pans and bake 25 to 30 minutes in preheated oven at about 350°.
