Codfish Cakes (Marinade)

- 1 lb. salty codfish
- 4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1 c. milk
- 4 stalks scallions, finely chopped
- 3 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tsp. chopped fresh hot pepper or to your taste (optional)
- 1 small grated onion
Directions

1Soak codfish in cold water overnight; discard water.

2Boil 1 quart of water; drop codfish in water.

3Turn fire off; let stand 10 minutes.

4Discard water.

5Cool and shred cod.

6Mix egg with 1 1/2 cups water and milk; pour over flour mixture and gradually make a soft paste.

7Add other ingredients.

8Mix well.

9Drop 1 tablespoon at a time in hot oil (deep fry).

10Very good as an appetizer.
