- 2 tablespoons butter
- 12 cup molasses
- 12 cup brown sugar
- 12 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1 12 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 14 teaspoon mace
- 12 teaspoon cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon nutmeg
- 12 teaspoon allspice
Directions

1Combine butter, molasses, brown sugar, and buttermilk in a medium saucepan over low heat.

2Heat until butter is melted and remove from heat.

3When cool, beat in egg.

4In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, spices and salt; fold into moist ingredients.

5Turn into a greased and floured 9-inch cake pan and bake in the middle of a preheated 350 F oven for 30 minutes or until a tester comes out clean.

6Cool before serving.
