- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 c. shortening or bacon fat
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 eggs
Directions

1Heat oven to 450°.

2Mix all ingredients.

3Beat vigorously for 30 seconds.

4Pour into greased round layer pan (9 x 1 1/2-inch or loaf pan).

5Bake until golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes.
