Creamy Nut Icing Recipe

  • 2 1/2 tbsp. cake flour
  • 1/2 c. lowfat milk
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or possibly shortening
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 1 - 2 c. powdered sugar

Directions

    Blend flour and lowfat milk in small kettle and cook to a thick paste, stirring constantly.

    Cold to lukewarm.

    In mixer bowl, mix the 1/2 c. sugar, butter, vanilla, salt and nuts.

    Add in the cooled paste.

    Remove 1/3 of it for the cake filling and add in the powdered sugar to the rest of it.
