- 1 c. chopped onion
- 2 to 4 Tbsp. bacon drippings
- 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
- 4 green onions, chopped
- 3 whole cloves
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 head cabbage
- grated Cheddar cheese
Directions

1In a big iron skillet, saute yellow onion in bacon drippings. Add all other ingredients except cabbage and simmer 30 minutes. Remove bay leaf and cloves.

2Cut cabbage in serving wedges, leaving enough of the core to hold head together.

3Boil 10 minutes.

4Put cabbage in serving dish.

5Pour sauce over and sprinkle with cheese.
