  • 1 c. oleo (2 sticks)
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. cold water
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 c. confectioners sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. cream (milk may be substituted)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Cut 1/2 cup oleo into 1 cup of flour until it resembles coarse meal.

    Add cold water and stir until well blended.

    Divide dough in half.

    Press each half into a 12 x 3-inch oblong on an ungreased baking sheet.

    Place boiling water and remaining 1/2 cup of oleo into saucepan.

    Bring to a boil.

    Add almond extract and remove from heat.

    Stir in remaining 1 cup of flour.

    Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Spread this mixture over the oblongs.

    Bake in hot oven at 425° for about 50 minutes.
