- 1 c. flour
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 3 eggs
Directions

1Measure into bowl 1 cup flour.

2Cut in 1/2 cup butter and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons water.

3Mix with fork.

4Round into ball and divide in half.

5Pat dough with hands into 2 large strips, 3 x 12-inch.

6Put on ungreased baking sheet.

7Put in saucepan and bring to a rolling boil the 1 cup water and 1/2 cup butter.

8Add the almond extract and remove from heat.

9Stir in 1 cup flour immediately to keep from lumping.

10Beat when smooth and thick.

11Add the eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth.

12Divide in half and spread evenly over each piece of pastry.

13Bake in a 350° oven until topping is crisp and nicely browned (about 60 minutes).

14Frost with confectioners sugar and sprinkle with nuts.
