  • 1 md. head red cabbage, finely cut
  • sliced
  • 2 tart green apples, peeled and cut up
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 md. onion, sliced
  • 1 qt. water
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 lemon, juice of

Directions

    Heat butter in large saucepan; saute onion and apples for 3 to 4 minutes.

    Add water, vinegar and seasonings; bring to a boil and add cabbage.

    Cover and simmer for 45 minutes, or until tender.

    Use a slotted spoon to serve.
