  • 1 c. buttermilk (sour)
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. flour, sifted
  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
  • 1 tsp. almond flavoring
  • 1 tsp. soda

Directions

    Cream the sugar and butter.

    Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Sift together the flour, salt, cocoa and soda. Add milk and beat, adding vanilla, almond and boiling water.

    Mix until smooth.

    Pour in 5 layers and bake in moderate oven.
