Ingredients
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. vegetable oil
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 1 slightly beaten egg
- 3 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Directions

1Soften yeast in warm water.

2Combine sugar, shortening and salt in large bowl.

3Stir in hot milk; cool to lukewarm (110° to 115°).

4Add softened yeast and egg; beat well after each addition. Add 2 cups flour; beat well.

5Gradually add remaining flour; stir in to make soft dough.

6Cover; let rise in warm place until double (or more).

7This takes 1 1/2 to ? hours.

8Punch down.

9You are now ready to shape into your favorite rolls (cloverleaf, Parker House, etc.).

10Place in or on greased pans.

11Let rise again until at least double in bulk.

12Bake at 375° to 400° for 10 to 12 minutes, or until desired brownness.
