- 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
Directions

1Combine butter and sugar in a medium mixing bowl; stir well. Add egg; stir until smooth. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to sugar mixture. Fold in dates and pecans.

2Spoon batter into a greased and floured 9-inch square baking pan. Bake at 325° for 30 minutes. Cool slightly in pan; cut into 2- x 1-inch bars. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
