- 3/4 c. butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- sugar (plain or colored)*
Directions

1In mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar and vanilla.

2Beat until light and fluffy.

3Gradually add flour and milk to creamed mixture.

4Chill dough for ease in handling.

5Divide dough into four equal parts.

6Work with one part at a time and refrigerate remaining dough.

7Divide each part into 8 pieces.
-
8Roll piece out to an 8-inch strand and twist into a pretzel shape.

9Place on greased baking sheet.

10Brush cookie with egg and sprinkle with sugar.

11Bake in preheated 400° oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly brown.

12Cool on racks.

13Yields 32 cookies.
