Easy Spanish Rice

- 2 tablespoons bacon grease or 2 tablespoons other cooking oil
- 1 cup long grain rice (we use jasmine )
- 1 12 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 14 teaspoon cumin
- 12 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce or 1 cup , chopped fresh or 1 cup canned tomato
- 2 cups chicken stock or 2 cups vegetable stock
Directions

1Heat oil in a large pan that has a tight fitting cover.

2Add rice and saute over medium heat until the grains are starting to become translucent.

3Add onion then saute a few minutes more.

4When the onion is soft add the spices, stirring to mix in well, add the stock then tomatoes.

5When it comes to a boil put on the lid and turn heat to low.

6Cook time is around 20 minutes.Keep covered until done.
