  • 1 lb. lean round steak (3/4-inch thick)
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 c. sauerkraut
  • 2 c. tomato juice
  • 1 medium onion, sliced

Directions

    Broil steak 3 to 4-inches from heat for 5 minutes on each side or until browned.

    Place steak in skillet.

    Add undrained sauerkraut, tomato juice and onion slices.

    Cover and cook over low heat for 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

    Also can be done in the oven at 325° or 350°.

    Put over mashed potatoes.

    Serves 4.
