Ingredients
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 2 1/3 c. warm water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 3/4 tsp. salt
- 6 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast and 1/2 teaspoon sugar in the 1/2 cup of water and let stand 10 minutes.

2Cream shortening and sugar, add salt, warm water and dissolved yeast.

3Add enough flour so that dough can be well kneaded.

4Knead until dough is elastic to touch.

5Let stand in warm place until double in bulk.

6Punch down and store in refrigerator until ready to use.

7Let rise about 2 hours before baking.

8Bake in 400° oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
