  • figs
  • 1/4 as much sugar as figs
  • water
  • lemon slices

    Put sugar on stove in

    enough water to dissolve and let come to a boil. Drop in figs

    until tender or so a straw sticks through them

    easily.

    Take figs

    and leave syrup to cook on longer.

    Drop

    slices of lemon to boil in syrup.

    Boil syrup until it spins a thread.

    Drop figs back in and cook a few minutes

    longer.

    Take up and seal in jars.
