- 1 lb lean pork shoulder
- 1 lb lean beef round
- 2 12 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon whole allspice
- 12 teaspoon whole white peppercorns
- 6 large white onions, cut into 1/4-inch thick slices
- fresh parsley, chopped
Directions

1Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

2Cut the meat into 1-inch cubes.

3In an enamelled, cast-iron pot or other deep oven proof casserole, layer the meat, salt, allspice, white peppercorns, and onion.

4Cover lightly.

5Bake for 5 hours, or until the meat is very tender.

6Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and serve over mashed potatoes or mashed potatoes and rutabagas.
