Foolproof Pie Crust

Ingredients

  • 4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. cold water

Directions

    With fork, mix first 4 ingredients.

    In a separate dish, beat remaining ingredients.

    Combine the 2, stirring with fork until all ingredients are moistened.

    With hands, mold dough into 5 balls.

    Chill at least 15 minutes before rolling.

    Dough can be left in refrigerator up to 3 days or can be wrapped in plastic or foil and frozen in balls until ready to use.

    Dough will remain soft in refrigerator and can be taken out and rolled after waiting a couple of minutes.

    Makes 5 crusts.
