French Onion Dip For Grown-Ups

  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • one large onion, sliced into slivers
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 8-ounce bar of cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh chives

Directions

    Melt the butter in a saute pan over medium-low heat. Add the onion and 1/2 tsp. salt and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are carmelized (half an hour or so).

    Let the onions cool.

    In a bowl, mix onions, cream cheese, sour cream, chives, 1/4 tsp. salt and 1/4 pepper. Serve with chips.

    Note: This is better if made ahead and allowed to rest.
