French Onion Steak

- 2 to 3 lb. steak (top round)
- oil (for frying)
- 1 envelope onion soup mix
- 3 c. hot water
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. seasoned pepper
Directions

1Cut steak into serving pieces.

2Trim off excess fat and pound flour into both sides of each piece.

3Brown each piece in hot oil. In Dutch oven, add steak, soup mix (undiluted), hot water and seasonings.

4Cover and simmer slowly until fork-tender, about 1 1/2 hours.

5Thicken gravy with cornstarch.

6For darker gravy, use Kitchen Bouquet.

7Great served with creamed potatoes.
