- 2 lb. tart apples
- 3 Tbsp. butter (bacon, ham or pork drippings give the apples good flavor)
- 1/4 c. sugar or sugar to taste
Directions

1Wash, core and slice apples (do not peel).

2Place them in a heavy skillet in which the butter or drippings have been melted. Cover and cook over moderate heat until soft (5 to 10 minutes), then uncover and sprinkle with sugar.

3Cook, uncovered, until apples are delicately browned on underside.

4If overcooked, the apples will fall to pieces.

5Serve hot.
