- 1 c. quick cooking grits
- 4 c. water
- 2 c. cheese
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- flour
- vegetable oil
Directions

1Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.

2Cook the grits in the water until absorbed.

3Stir in the cheese and black pepper; pour into pan.

4Cover; refrigerate 4 hours.

5Cut grits into 4-inch bars; remove from pan.

6Coat with flour.

7Arrange on cookie sheet; refrigerate 30 minutes more.

8Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil. Coat grits again with flour.

9Fry until golden.

10Drain on paper towels.

11Serve hot with cheese sauce.
