- deer, sliced across grain 1/4-inch thick
- 1 c. cornmeal
- butter
Directions

1Cut up 1 large, fat hen (6 to 8 pounds) and put in a large pot to cook until tender.

2Make sure to have enough broth on the chicken.

3Put aside about a quart of broth for the dumplings. Take the broth and add to the flour. Keep adding flour to broth until the dough is very stiff.

4If you use plain flour, add salt. If you use self-rising flour, do not add salt.

5Divide the dough into 2 parts.

6Roll until thin.

7Cut and drop dumplings into boiling broth.

8Let cook until done.

9Never stir dumplings.

10Shake pot to keep dumplings from sticking.

11This is an old recipe, handed down in the family.
