Fried Green Tomatoes

  • 2 large green tomatoes, firm
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine

Directions

    Slice tomatoes in thin slices.

    In bowl, beat egg, then add milk.

    Add flour, salt, pepper and garlic and whip mixture until smooth.

    Melt margarine in heavy skillet over medium-low heat.

    Dip tomatoes, a slice at a time, in batter and place in skillet.

    Fry until brown on both sides.
