  • 1/8 gallons Cornmeal
  • 1/8 cups Sugar
  • 1/2 ounces, fluid Salt
  • 2 pinches Cayenne Pepper
  • 3/8 quarts Sour Cream Or Buttermilk
  • 4 whole Large Green Tomatoes
  • 1/8 quarts Vegetable Oil Or More As Needed

    In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients and pour the sour cream in a separate bowl.

    Dredge tomatoes in sour cream (or buttermilk) and then in cornmeal mixture.

    Heat oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium to medium high heat and fry the tomato slices. Fry until they are golden brown and crisp. About 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
