- 1 c. Crisco
- 2 c. light brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 1/2 c. finely chopped, candied fruit
- 1 1/2 c. chopped dates
- 1 1/2 c. chopped nuts
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Blend Crisco and brown sugar.

2Stir in eggs and buttermilk. Add combined dry ingredients and beat until smooth.

3Stir in fruit and nuts.

4Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart on a baking sheet which has been rubbed with Crisco.

5Bake in moderate oven (375°) for about 12 minutes or until lightly browned.

6Makes 10 dozen 1 1/2-inch cookies.
