Fruit Swirl Squares

Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs or 3 extra large
  • 3 c. flour (1 1/2 white, 1 1/2 whole wheat)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c. water
  • fruit of choice, thickened as for pie

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs and mix well.

    Add remaining ingredients, except fruit, and mix to combine.

    In a buttered (greased) 9 x 13-inch pan, spread 1/2 the batter, then spread fruit and spread remaining batter on top.

    Cut through a few times only with a butter knife to swirl (fruit).

    Bake at 375° for 30 to 40 minutes.
