  • 1/2 lb. (2 sticks) butter
  • 4 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

    Melt the butter and chocolate together over low heat.

    Stir in the sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

    Add the vanilla and the nuts.

    In another bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and salt.

    Stir this into the chocolate mixture. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
