Ingredients: 1 bar German sweet chocolate; 1/2 c. water; 4 eggs, separated; 2 sticks margarine; 2 c. sugar; 1/2 tsp. salt; 1 tsp. baking soda; 2 tsp. vanilla; 1 c. buttermilk; 2 1/4 c. flour; beaten egg whites

1/2 c. water

2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/4 c. flour
beaten egg whites

Directions

Melt chocolate in hot water, 1 1/2 minutes in microwave.

Mix together next 6 ingredients (separate eggs; beat whites until very stiff and set aside).

Add chocolate, buttermilk and flour.

Fold in beaten egg whites.

Bake in 13 x 9-inch pan for 40 minutes at 350°.
