German Fruit Cake

- 3/4 c. butter or margarine
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 c. flour
- 2/3 c. each: cherry, apricot and pineapple preserves
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. pecans (if desired)
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. soda
Directions

1Cream together butter, sugar and eggs.

2Sift together flour and spices.

3Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk to which the soda has been added.

4Fold in gently the preserves, vanilla and nuts.

5Pour into a greased and floured angel food cake pan.

6Bake for 1 1/2 hours or until done at 325°.

7Cool for 15 minutes after it is removed from oven.
