  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. lard
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. (scant) cocoa
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 2 to 2 1/2 c. flour

    Beat until creamy the butter and lard.

    Gradually beat sugar into this.

    Then add salt, cinnamon and melted cocoa.

    Add well beaten egg.

    Add soda dissolved in milk.

    Stir in about 2 to 2 1/2 cups flour.

    Roll 1/8-inch thick.

    Cut with round cutter.

    Bake in quick oven.

    Use as little flour as possible for rolling.

    Frost after cooled with buttercream frosting, putting two cookies together like a sandwich.
