- 4 eggs
- 4 c. sugar
- 2 c. shortening (I use lard)
- 6 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 qt. buttermilk
- 4 tsp. salt
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 4 tsp. soda
- 6 tsp. ginger
- 1 (12 oz.) bottle molasses
- 6 to 7 lb. flour
Directions

1Cream eggs, sugar, lard and buttermilk.

2Add the spices and then the molasses.

3Rinse the molasses bottle with 3/4 full of warm water and add to mixture.

4Add the flour until it's at a consistency that can be rolled out on the table.

5Cut into large circles or gingerbread man shapes.

6Bake at 375° for 6 to 7 minutes.

7Once cool, ice with powdered sugar icing.

8Yields approximately 12 dozen cookies.

9Recipe can be cut in half.
