- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. cane syrup
- 1 egg
- 4 Tbsp. buttermilk
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 heaping tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/3 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
Directions

1Preheat oven to 375°.

2Melt butter and stir in syrup.

3Beat egg with buttermilk.

4Mix together the dry ingredients, then stir in the eg mixture and the syrup mixture.

5Pour into a 9-inch square pan that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 325° and bake 25 minutes. Serve with ice cream, yogurt or sorbet.
