Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. cane syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 4 Tbsp. buttermilk
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 heaping tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/3 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt

Directions

    Preheat oven to 375°.

    Melt butter and stir in syrup.

    Beat egg with buttermilk.

    Mix together the dry ingredients, then stir in the eg mixture and the syrup mixture.

    Pour into a 9-inch square pan that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 325° and bake 25 minutes. Serve with ice cream, yogurt or sorbet.
