  • 4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 1 egg

    Blend shortening and sugar.

    Add molasses and egg; beat well. Mix flour and spices.

    Roll in 1-inch balls and dip top side in sugar.

    Do not pat down.
