  • 4 3/4 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. ginger
  • 4 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. molasses

Directions

    Measure and sift together the first 5 ingredients; set aside. Cream together the shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs and molasses. Stir in dry ingredients; blend well.

    Form teaspoon size dough balls by rolling lightly between palms of hands.

    Roll dough in granulated sugar to cover surface.

    Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

    Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes, or until tops are slightly rounded, crackly and lightly browned.
