- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- sugar for rolling cookies
Directions

1In large bowl, cream shortening and sugar.

2Add molasses and egg, beat well.

3Add dry ingredients.

4Mix well.

5Cover and chill. Preheat oven to 375°.

6Grease cookie sheets.

7Form dough into 1-inch balls.

8Roll each ball in sugar, place on cookie sheets 2-inches apart.

9Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.

10Let stand 1 minute, remove to rack to cool. Makes 48 cookies.
