  • 20 white onions smalls
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or 2
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

    Place the unskinned onions in a saucepan, addone inch boiling water, cover and cook until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain, cool and slip off the skins.

    Heat the butter in a saucepan or skillet, add the onions, sprinkle with sugar and salt and cook slowly, shaking the pan or turning the onions until they become a light golden brown.
