- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons margarine
- 12 -16 ounces green chilies, chopped
- 1 (28 ounce) can tomatoes, drained and chopped
- 2 lbs American cheese, Kraft Deluxe grated (do not substitute)
Directions

1Variation: increase margarine to 1 stick.

2substitute 1 can rotel tomatoes with chilies for tomatoes (10 ounce)

3In a heavy pot, saute onion in margarine until onions become transparent.

4Add green chilies and liquid.

5Saute 2 to 3 minutes longer, careful to not brown.

6Add tomatoes and grated cheese.

7Heat over low heat until melted.

8Cool slowly, stirring often to prevent film from forming.

9If you freeze, this will not happen when reheating.

10Serve warm with tortilla-style chips.
