- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 1 cup white grits, not instant
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Directions

1Combine milk, grits and salt in a saucepan, bring to a boil.

2Turn heat to low and simmer, stirring constantly, for about 20 minutes or until grits are tender and thick.

3Remove from heat, stir in the butter and cheese and serve warm.
