  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup white grits, not instant
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Directions

    Combine milk, grits and salt in a saucepan, bring to a boil.

    Turn heat to low and simmer, stirring constantly, for about 20 minutes or until grits are tender and thick.

    Remove from heat, stir in the butter and cheese and serve warm.
