- 2 12 lbs cooked ham, finely chopped (8 cups)
- 1 13 tablespoons minced instant onion
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 13 tablespoons parsley flakes
- 14 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
- 6 12 cups unsifted flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 cups shortening
- 34 cup cold water
Directions

1Mix ham, onion, tomato sauce, parsley flakes, pepper, mustard, and horseradish.

2Set aside.

3PASTRY: Mix flour and salt.

4Mix in shortening only until mixture is crumbly.

5Add cold water and mix quickly.

6Let dough rest 15 minutes.

7Divide dough into 24 pieces; form into balls.

8Roll each ball out on lightly floured surface to make a circle about 5 inches in diameter, about 1/8-inch thick.

9Place about 3 tablespoons ham mixture onto one half of each pastry circle.

10Fold other half of circle over ham mixture.

11Seal edge by pressing with tines of a fork.

12TO SERVE WITHOUT FREEZING: Preheat oven to 400B0 F.

14Place turnovers on baking sheet.

15Bake 30 minutes or until lightly browned.

16Serve with Mushroom Sauce or Vegetable Sauce.

17TO FREEZE: Place six turnovers at a time in a single layer on freezer wrap.

18Complete wrapping by pulling paper up over top of food.

19Put edges of wrap together and fold several times so paper lies directly on top of food.

20Fold ends of freezer wrap over the top and seal with freezer tape.

21Label with name of food, date of freezing, and last date the food should be used for best eating quality (about 6 months).

22Freeze immediately for 10-12 hours before stacking packages.

23TO HEAT FROZEN TURNOVERS: Preheat oven to 400B0 F.

25Remove freezer wrap.

26Place food on a baking sheet.

27Bake 45 minutes or until turnovers are lightly browned.
