Ingredients

  • 3 c. crushed corn flakes
  • 1 peeled apple, chopped
  • 1/4 c. white raisins
  • 1/4 c. dark raisins or chopped dates
  • 1/2 c. brown or white sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 4 beaten egg yolks
  • 1 3/4 c. milk, scalded
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions

    Mix first 8 ingredients and add egg yolks and milk.

    Fold in egg whites with cream of tartar.

    Place in lightly greased casserole (oblong).

    Cook at 350° for about 45 minutes.

    Test with a toothpick or wire tester until firm.

    Serve with dribbles of warm maple syrup or heavy cream after pudding has cooled.
