  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 2/3 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. milk
  • 9-inch cooked pie shell
  • 1/3 c. sugar

Directions

    Mix flour, 3/4 cup sugar, cocoa, egg yolks and salt in top of double boiler with about 1/2 cup milk.

    Stir mix to reduce lumping.

    Put on top of boiler.

    Add rest of milk; whisk until thick.

    Add vanilla.

    Pour into cooked pie shell.

    Beat egg whites with 1/3 cup sugar until stiff to make meringue.

    Place on top of pie; bake at 450° until golden brown, about 8 to 10 minutes.
