Manhattan Clam Chowder

- 4 strips bacon
- 1 c. celery, chopped
- 2 c. potatoes, diced
- 1 c. carrots, chopped
- 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
- 3 (6 1/2 oz.) cans chopped clams
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
Directions

1Cut bacon in small pieces; saute in large pot; add celery and onions.

2Saute until tender.

3Add potatoes, carrots and tomatoes. Drain clams.

4Add enough water to broth to make 4 cups liquid. Add this to vegetables with salt, pepper and thyme.

5Simmer covered 35 minutes.

6Add clams and simmer another 30 minutes.
