- 1 c. butter, softened
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 2 1/8 c. flour
- 1 c. hickory nuts, chopped
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar in large mixing bowl until light.

2Add egg, mixing well.

3Stir in flour until well combined.

4Add remaining ingredients; mix well.

5Shape dough into 2 long rolls; wrap each roll in waxed paper.

6Chill several hours.

7Slice rolls into 1/4-inch slices and place on cookie sheet.

8Bake at 375° for 7 to 8 minutes.
