- 1/2 c. milk
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. active dry yeast
- 5 1/2 to 6 c. all-purpose flour
Directions

1Scald milk.

2Stir in sugar, salt and butter; cool.

3Dissolve yeast in warm water.

4Add cooled milk mixture and 3 cups flour; stir until smooth.

5Add enough flour to make a soft dough.

6Put mixture on a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic.

7Add any additional flour, if necessary.

8Place mixture into a buttered bowl and butter top of dough.

9Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk, approximately 1 hour.

10When ready, punch down dough.

11Let it rest for about 10 minutes.
